Cut Auto insurance costs
Because most states have laws that make auto insurance mandatory, there is no reason why you should give up on trying to keep these insurance costs as low as possible. Here are some tips on how you can achieve this:
#!) Shop around. Use the phone and the Internet to see what kind of coverage is available. There are plenty of comparison shopping sites available on the Internet to help you get the best value for money. Just remember not to compare apples with oranges and make sure that you are comparing insurance coverage on a like basis.
#2) higher deductibles. Opt for a policy with a higher deductible of say $500 or $1000 instead of $250. A deductible is what you need to pay from your own pocket while the insurance company will take care of expenses above this amount. This will lower your premiums while still ensuring that you are covered for major problems. Make sure that you can actually afford the deductible before making the choice.
#3) good driving record. If you are a safe driver and have a clean driving history without traffic offences, you will be charged less for your auto insurance. Always bear this in mind especially if you are tempted into minor traffic offences.
#4) demand a discount. If you’re dealing with the same insurance company or the same insurance agent for all your insurance needs such as health, auto and so on, ask for a discount. This is called a multi-policy discount.
#5) avoid expensive high-performance cars. Expensive high-performance cars have high maintenance costs and insurance premiums are therefore more costly. If you choose a standard modestly priced car, you will normally be charged a lower premium.
